It's cramped, has no carpeting, has exposed wiring, all sorts of odd stains in the ceiling tiles and has little ventilation. And when you're dealing with soaked, sweaty hockey equipment, you want that stuff to air our. It might be the most disgusting room in the entire city of Pittsburgh.
